Adopted in the public bidding for the national next-generation digital infrastructure project Trusted Web

We are pleased to announce that our AtalaPRISM-based project using the Cardano blockchain, in collaboration with the Dentsu Group, has been selected in the public bidding for the TrustedWeb Promotion Project for building a new digital infrastructure, which is being led by the Japanese government. I’m participating in the project in a development support position at BMP Corporation, where I am the Chief New Business Development Officer.
Expected Effects
Cross-cutting information management
Certificates issued by different institutions, such as city hall, tax offices, banks, etc., must be requested and obtained individually from each institution. We aim to create a system that collects these certificates and other data on a common digital platform, where individuals become the administrator (SSI) and can control the digital disclosure and sharing only to specific institutions. This will enable cross-functional data management between different institutions and organizations.
Paperless
Digital certificates are digitally authenticated using digital proof and cryptography. The certificate is tied to the owner’s DID and credentials and cannot be copied or tampered with. In addition, it adds trust to the data associated with the DID, making it applicable to a wide variety of digital proofs.
Utilization for policy and policy planning
As mentioned in section 2, data with trust is expected to be used as high quality data for data analysis. In addition, due to the traceability function of the blockchain, it is also expected to be used for data analysis not only temporarily, but also over time.
What the Trusted Web aims for
Atala PRISM is now being deployed in Ethiopia, and a similar visionary project is underway in Japan on a national scale. Projects are already underway to establish the technology, establish global connections in the field, and incubate an engineering community. The current phase is the prototype development phase, with 11 projects selected and under construction. In the next phase, in FY2023, the prototypes that can be expected to benefit from demonstration testing will be selected and developed into future infrastructure candidates.
Spillover to prefectures, cities, and other local governments
If this project is realized, it will be of great benefit not only to the national system, but also to the various local governments as well, and we expect it to spread quickly throughout Japan. We believe that the past work our team has done, such as working with Chiba Prefecture Council Member Matsudo and making presentations to the Chiba Prefectural Government and Smart City, will lead to future expansion of this project.
